Rest Stop
Author(s):
Craig Sodaro
Conservative Ben Gerard doesn't understand his 15-year-old daughter, Christi, who bitterly tries to exert her independence. Christi feels she has taken a back seat to Ben's business, while Mimi, the wife and mother, tries to straddle the widening gulf between father and daughter during a family "vacation." Lunch at a lonely rest stop along a western highway is the scene for yet another father/daughter confrontation. The bickering dies away when a wistful stranger, Violet Aldrich, appears. Before long, she plunges the Gerards into a nightmare which forces them to confront their shattering bonds. But is it too late to salvage the family? Sharp dialogue laced with humor builds "Hitchcockian" suspense that leads to a shocking ending which will touch any audience. One ext. set.
